Stephen Handel , a native of Nanaimo, BC, is the founder of the Algonquin Sports Therapy Clinic. He also serves as the head Athletic Therapist at Algonquin College and a lecturer in the Health and Fitness Department at Algonquin College.
Handel received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Victoria in 1999 and his Diploma in Sports Injury Management (Sheridan Scholar) from Sheridan College in 2003. The prestigious Sheridan program included an internship with the Toronto Blue Jays which Handel experienced in 2002. Handel was on the medical team during the 2001 Canada Summer games.
As a Supervisory Athletic Therapist (SAT), Handel guides student Athletic Therapists along the path to national certification. His treatment philosophy is based on a balance of hands-on therapy, exercise prescription, and the latest electro-modalities.
Handel is married to his wife Stephanie and they have a son Jacob. He enjoys spending time with his family, racing duathlon and working in the yard.
